Mou entre SSSCIP y NCSC -Fi – Finlandia y Ucrania fortalecen la colaboración en la promoción de la seguridad cibernética

Summary of the Cooperation between SSSCIP and NCSC-FI

In a recent meeting, Oleksander Potii, the President of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP), expressed gratitude to Finnish partners for their ongoing cooperation and support to Ukraine. He emphasized the deep value of the partnership between Ukraine and Finland, noting that it is advancing to new levels. Potii highlighted SSSCIP’s readiness to share its knowledge and experience gained in counteracting cyber-attacks with Finland’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC-FI). This collaboration is aimed at creating a secure cyber environment, representing a joint effort against the increasing threats posed by cyber warfare.

Anssi Kärkkäinen, the Director General of NCSC-FI, echoed Potii’s sentiments, underscoring the significance of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations. Kärkkäinen described the MoU as a pivotal step in enhancing the collaborative efforts between SSSCIP and NCSC-FI, ensuring that the expertise and insights from SSSCIP will be invaluable in strengthening the security and resilience of both nations. He expressed confidence that this partnership would lead to tangible projects and the exchange of critical information to mitigate cyber threats.

The agreement allows for a range of joint activities that will bolster cybersecurity efforts. Participants are set to engage in various areas, including:

  1. Information Exchange on Cybersecurity Policies: This involves sharing guidelines, procedures, and best practices in the domain of cybersecurity to ensure both nations benefit from each other’s experiences.

  2. Incident Reporting: Both organizations commit to sharing information regarding cyber incidents, including detailed reports on cyber attacks and emerging threats, thus enabling a coordinated response to such events.

  3. Response Guidance: The MoU details provisions for providing advisory support and information to help in the resolution and investigation of cyber incidents, as well as addressing any resultant consequences.

  4. Mutual Recommendations: Participants will exchange insights and best practices to refine their respective cyber incident management systems, including response and recovery protocols after incidents.

  5. Exploration of Additional Areas: The MoU also allows for the exploration of other areas of cooperation, as determined by the participants, which could adapt to the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Overall, both SSSCIP and NCSC-FI are optimistic that this robust partnership will not only enhance their cybersecurity capacities but also contribute to broader regional stability. The commitment to mutual assistance and knowledge sharing is poised to create a proactive defense against cyber threats, fostering an environment where both Ukraine and Finland can effectively counteract challenges related to cybersecurity. This collaboration signifies an important development in international cybersecurity efforts, highlighting the necessity for nations to come together in the face of common threats.

The MoU stands not just as a document but as a framework for strategic collaboration between the two nations, propelling them towards a safer future in the digital realm.
